Your header/hero image needs to grab a customer’s attention, and your product images need to convince them that they can’t live without your item.

Image guidelinesYou want to list your baby on AppSumo, you want to get some great Sumo-ling feedback, and you want to make some cold, hard cash while you’re at it.
That means you need to make sure you’re setting the perfect price for your product.
Because our buyers are accustomed to seeing fantastic offers on AppSumo, we’ve found overwhelmingly that the sweet spot for product listings is to offer a lifetime deal priced somewhere between $49 and $79.
You can offer higher-cost plan levels via code stacking or upgrade pricing tiers, but we generally won’t approve initial submissions with base offerings more than $89.
AppSumo Plus is our premium rewards membership program that offers perks like 10% off deal purchases, access to KingSumo Web Pro, and other surprise benefits!
This membership is not refundable after rewards have been used. Because this membership is billed annually, you can cancel any time and not be charged for the following year. However, cancellations requested after you have purchased any deals using the membership discount will not result in partial refunds.
When making a purchase with your Plus membership, you'll automatically receive 10% off the price of the product. The checkout process will be the same as always.
Occasionally, AppSumo offers physical products, such as conference tickets, books, or other items that can only be purchased with cash or cash-like equivalents (credits and discounts not included). However, for the majority of products offered on AppSumo, this will not be an issue and AppSumo Plus members will not be affected.
Most of the deals you’ll see on AppSumo are listed as either lifetime deals (LTDs) or annual deals. The difference is simple: when a customer purchases an LTD, they receive access to it for the “life” of the product; conversely, when a customer purchases an annual deal, they receive access to it for 1 full year after that redeem date. Keep in mind that if you set up your listing as an annual deal, you as the partner will be responsible for setting up any potential renewals with your customers after that 1 year is up. Generally, we’d highly recommend listing a LTD. It’s what Sumo-lings expect to find on AppSumo and it builds the thrill around buying & reviewing your product - and gaining lifetime ambassadors!
When we talk about redemption on AppSumo, we’re referring to how Sumo-lings (our customers) will digitally redeem your product on AppSumo in order to gain access to that product and all its corresponding features. There’s two components to redemption, your URL and your codes.
A redemption URL is essentially where a customer gets redirected after they purchase your product – it’s where they begin the redemption process. This can be a landing page, your existing cart/checkout page, a form you’ve set up specifically for AppSumo customers, or pretty much anything you want this URL to be. All that matters is that it’s a working launch pad for your new customers to begin that process of gaining access to your product via their unique redemption code.
AppSumo codes are essentially the purchase keys to unlocking your deal for customer use. You can also think of codes as coupons, vouchers, license keys, etc. Think of a code as a 100% off discount to unlocking a certain plan within your product which includes certain features.
There are many tools out there to help with generating codes. For example, if you’re submitting a product that is a Teachable course, you can generate the codes right there in Teachable. But if you need to generate them yourself from scratch without the aid of your product’s platform, we recommend using a free online tool (like Voucherify) to generate the codes.
No, we require between 500-10,000 unique, one-time-use codes for each product submitted for consideration on our platform. It’s significantly safer that way, both for you and for us than using a multi-use code.
The downside to using just one coupon code with infinite uses: that code can be improperly shared anywhere and with anyone, and that’s a recipe for disaster when a bunch of people get free, unpaid, illegal access to the product you worked so hard to create. That’s why we’ve built our entire system on unique, one-time-use codes: after a paying customer validates that code with you through your redemption system, that code won’t work again. It’s just better overall this way.
Learning where to start on setting up a great listing (and a better redemption flow) can be tricky. Feel free to reach out to us at partners@appsumo.com about your circumstance and we’d be happy to send you additional case-specific resources to assist.
